SEVERN, Md. (WUSA) -- A 24-year-old man is charged with attempted murder after reportedly choking his uncle with a rope on Saturday morning.

Anne Arundel County police say they received multiple 911 calls describing a fight involving Jason Michael Everett of Severn, Md. and his uncle. People reported that Everett was choking his 51-year-old uncle at a home in the 7900 block of Citadel Drive in Severn.

When officers arrived, they saw Everett and his uncle in the front yard of the home. Police say officers had to take the rope off of the uncle's neck to allow him to breathe.

Evett was then arrested and charged with attempted  murder, second degree assault and use of a deadly weapon. He is being held at the detention center without bond.

The uncle was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police say his injuries were non-life threatening.
