WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9) --- USO honored hundreds of military and their families with a summer grill-off contest at Nationals Park to celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July.
U.S. Marine "Grill Sergeant" Lance Cpl. Noah Bratcher and his wife Cassandra brought their best grilling skills to the contest, June 29, 2013. The couple won among teams from all six branches of the military participating in the "Grill of Honor."
The Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard and Navy had 40 minutes to produce the best burger using surprise ingredients.
Celebrity judges Brooklyn Decker and Carson Daly cheered on the chefs.
Elaine Rodgers, President and CEO, USO of Metropolitan Washington, and Tom Lamb, Lowe's chief marketing officer also judged the event. Each team won gift cards and a grilling prize package.
Lowe's donated $100,000 to the USO at the charity grill-off with 750 military guests.
The USO is a non-profit organization dedicated to lifting the spirits and supporting the U.S. military and their families.
