Wynetta Wright and Jaylin
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA9) -- A D.C. cop who killed the 20-year-old mother of his child and their 11-month-old baby has received two life sentences without parole.
Richmond Phillips was found guilty in January of first-degree murder of Wynetta Wright and her child Jaylin. He was also convicted of two counts of second degree murder, one count of first degree child abuse, one count of second degree child abuse and one count of use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence.
Officials say DNA had proven that Phillips was the child's father. Prosecutors argued that he killed Wright and her child to avoid paying child support.
