WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Coolidge High School principal Thelma Jarrett was arraigned Thursday afternoon in D.C. Superior Court.

She is accused of ordering and participating in an assault on a former staff member homecoming football game at the school on Nov. 2.

Jarrett and two other school employees turned themselves in for the alleged assault.

For students at Coolidge High School it was a normal day except for the fact that their principal spent much of the day a few miles away at police headquarters downtown where she turned herself in.

According to the police report, the victim, 27-year-old Rashida King-Hicks, the former after-school coordinator at the high school, was talking with friends after a football game when she suddenly heard someone shout "Get her!"

According to the police report, she was then punched in the face by a person now identified as Jarrett, and then kicked by another person when she fell to the ground.

The victim was not seriously injured, and although she declined to be interviewed on camera, she told 9News' Matt Jablow by phone that she had no idea what prompted the attack.

Jarrett has been placed on administrative leave.
