WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - A D.C. consulting firm is telling its employees to put down the smartphone, log off the computer, toss aside the iPad, and don't read or answer any work email this weekend.

It brings to mind the question, are we too connected? Apparently, management at The Advisory Board Company on M Street thinks so. The Chief Executive was quoted as wanting to give employees a work/life balance.

We went to the M Street company after 5 p.m. on Friday. We heard he'd left, but Jonathan Cronin, who works in the Finance Department hadn't. We asked Cronin what he was planning to do with all his free weekend time. "An exciting weekend lined up with the wife, with the changes of the fall colors and everything, trying to go up north a little bit,"he said.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says workers are getting more and more productive, but the number of hours being clocked has stayed pretty flat. So even though one company is promoting a work/life balance, it may be awhile before the trend catches on.
