Washington D.C. native Taisha Hayes
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- Dr. Mehmet Oz dedicated the 100th episode of his show to weight loss and invited 100 people who had lost 100 pounds or more.
One of those 100 people is Washington DC native, Taisha Hayes.
She says, "Ever since I was a little girl, I was always the chubby one."
By age 23, Hayes weighed nearly 300 pounds and was contemplating gastric bypass surgery, but she found her solution, and an unexpected joy, in exercise.
She told Dr. Oz on his show, "I love food; I love food possibly more than anyone else in the world. So that means you need to burn more calories than you are consuming, and that meant I had to add exercise. I didn't want to cut portions to an extreme amount, but by adding exercise, I eventually started enjoying the endorphins. And the next thing you know, I started to enjoy working out. And I think if I can find a way to enjoy it, anyone can. And that is why I am a personal trainer. To help others find something they can do."
