MOUNT AIRY, MARYLAND (WUSA9) -- Only on 9, some local parents will be in a Maryland courtroom Friday after they allegedly broke into the home of their daughter's boyfriend and beat him with a baseball bat.
According to police, the parents blamed their daughter's drug use on the young man. The four Montgomery County residents were allegedly set on revenge. In mid-November, William and Tanya Costigan, along with Daniel Delmar and his girlfriend Catherine Lonas broke into this Mount Airy home and savagely beat the young man inside, according to charging documents.
Their victim, Eric Mandley, was the boyfriend of Kristin Delmar. She's the daughter of Daniel Delmar and Tanya Costigan. Police say they blame Mandley for their daughter's drug problems. She was arrested in late October and charged with possessing heroin, syringes and other paraphernalia.
Investigators say William Costigan beat Mandley with a metal baseball bat, fracturing his skull and landing him at Baltimore's Shock Trauma. Mandley's sister walked in on the attack and called 911. She told investigators that Delmar was holding a wooden baseball bat and a hunting knife, and threatened to return the next night.
All four adults are now facing first-degree burglary and assault charges. Late last month, a judge ordered them to stay away from Mandley and his home.
