(WUSA9) -- A driver has been charged after his tractor trailer hit an impact attenuator (barrier) at approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 95 southbound at Backlick Road, spilling fuel.
Police told us at the time that a minimum of 150 gallons of fuel and a maximum of 300 were spilled across 1000 yards of roadway.
About 300 vehicles had been stuck in the area since 5:45 a.m.
No one was injured, including the tractor trailer driver. He has been identified as David S. Westbrook. He is charged with failure to obey highway markings, according to Virginia State Police. Police also say that The Fairfax County Fire Marshal also charged Westbrook. We're waiting for details on that charge.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
