VIENNA, Va. (CBS DC) - Police are conducting a criminal investigation into the death of a 16-year-old female McLean High School student whose body was discovered in an affluent neighborhood near Tysons Corner last week.
The body of Emylee Lonczak was found in shrubbery between two homes on Madrillon Estates Drive in Vienna Friday morning. The neighborhood, where residences sell for upwards of $1 million, is largely void of crime.
Fairfax County Police are not releasing many details surrounding the death, but say they do not believe anyone else is in danger.
The current investigation has shown that she was not a runaway but around the company of people she was familiar with. There is also a possibility that illegal narcotics may be a factor in this case.
McLean High School principal Ellen Reilly sent a letter to parents about the death of Lonczak on Monday, describing her as a cherished student.
The first day of school for students in Fairfax County is Sept. 3. Lonczak was to be a junior this year.
The teen was reported missing by her family last week.
