UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man has pleaded guilty to second degree assault after hitting a police cruiser and nearly hitting the officer last August, according to Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks on Wednesday.
Dion Morgan also pleased guilty to wearing and carrying a handgun and one county of possession of crack, said Alsobrooks.
According to Alsobrooks, Morgan was driving a car with "a bad tag" on August 7, 2012. A Prince George's County police officer tried to approach the car while it was sitting in a parking lot. Then, Morgan accelerated and nearly hit the officer.
That action lead to a chase. Morgan eventually crashed his car in Washington D.C.
Morgan is set to be sentenced on August 2, says Alsobrooks. He is expected to get approximately 13 to 14 months in jail.
