1 suspect arrested after 1 shot, another injured during robbery

ODENTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- One person was shot and another person injured during an armed robbery on Tuesday, say Anne Arundel County police. Police now say they have a suspect in custody.

Police say at  9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Chapelview Drive in Odenton for a shooting. They found a man with a gun shot wound to a lower extremity and another man with minor trauma to his upper body, caused by possible bullet fragments, say police. A woman was also on the scene, but not injured, according to police.

The police investigation so far has determined that three people, two with guns, approached the three victims at a location near 700 Chapelview Drive. The three suspects demanded and received personal property from the victims. One of the victims was shot and another wounded possibly by bullet fragments. The woman ran from the scene and was uninjured, say police.

The man who was shot was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Police say the other man was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the suspects were described as three black males, who were tall, thin, and wearing shorts and white tee-shirts. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns.

Police say later Tuesday night, a driver was stopped near Chaplegate Drive and Waugh Chapel Road and arrested for possession of marijuana. Police tell us the driver, 22-year-old Andrew Gary Neale of Severn, was later identified as a suspect in the robbery and shooting. Neale is now charged with attemted first degree murder, armed robbery, first degree assault, second degree assault and other offenses.

Neale is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Police believe the victims were targeted.
