ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Metro officials say smoke was coming from the collector shoe on the bottom of the Blue line train headed for Largo that was disabled on Monday morning.

The train was disabled between Van Dorn and King Street. The train behind it was offloaded to assist it, say Metro officials. Passengers were offloaded at the King Street station.

An officials explains that the collector shoe is the piece that makes contact with third rail which powers the train. It apparently was making bad contact with the third rail.

Both trains are moving again and there is single tracking between Van Dorn and King Street.
