WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A local Tai Chi studio won the 2013 USA Wushu-Kungfu Federation National Championship in Group Tai Chi.

Sun & Moon Taiji One's instructors, Coaches Mickey Lee and Melody Lee, led six students to take home the championship in their very first competition.

The students have the average experience of less than a year-and-half in Group Taiji competition.

The choreography and execution took months of dedicated practices and rehearsals.

Leading up to their National Championship, Sun & Moon Taiji One performed at the 2013 Chinese Culture and Community Service Association Lunar New Year Festival at Lakeforest Mall.
