Oklahoma Tornado Help: Donate To Red Cross And Other Organizations With WUSA 9 Cares

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- If you are wondering how you can help Oklahoma recover after the tornadoes, then one way is to make a donation to The Salvation Army. It is activating disaster response teams and mobile feeding units across many states.

You can help by donating online (https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/) or you can text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10. You can also call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.

Donations in the form of checks designated to Oklahoma Tornado Relief may also be mailed to:

Of course, you can also reach out to the American Red Cross.  You can text REDCROSS to 90999 from your phone to donate $10.

The Red Cross is also suggesting giving blood at your local hospital or blood bank.

Operation USA is also providing emergency aid to community-based health organizations in Oklahoma. Donate online, by phone at 1-800-678-7255, or by check made out to Operation USA, 7421 Beverly Blvd., PH, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

You can also donate $10 by texting AID to 50555. Corporate donations of bulk quantities of disaster-appropriate supplies are also being requested.

The United Way of Central Oklahoma (www.unitedwayokc.org) is accepting donations.  You can give by credit card by calling 405-523-3598 or 405-523-3597.

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief tells USA TODAY it deployed at least 80 volunteers. People interested in helping can make a tax-deductible donation to the BGCO's Disaster Relief ministry online or call (405) 942-3800.
