STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- Dulles Greenway officials tell us their Drive for Charity this year set a new record for donations.
Thursday, officials set a high goal for donations collected on the toll road for this year's event. Friday, they announced that they collected $268,942.85 on Thursday. Officials say that Thrusday was also their highest traffic day in the past three years.
The money will go to the March of Dimes, Every Citizen Has Opportunity (ECHO), Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter (LAWS), Fresh Air/Full Care, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and the Dulles Greenway Scholarship Program, which awards $1,500 to one senior at each of the Loudoun County public high schools.

Officials say in eight years the Dulles Greenway has raised $1,797,404.91 for charities and scholarships.
