Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck In Wheaton

WHEATON, Md. (WUSA9) -- A day later, Montgomery County Police say a pedestrian died from injuries on Thursday morning.

Police say they received a call at at 8:59 a.m. for a pedestrian struck at Georgia Avenue at Prichard Road.

She was identified as Mary J. Fish, 52, of the 11500 block of Cordwall Dr. in Beltsville. She had been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation shows a white 1998 Honda Accord and a white 2012 Nissan van were going southbound on Viers Mill Road when the driver of the Honda made an unsafe lane change and struck the Nissan, which went up a curb where it hit Fish. She was walking on the median. 

Police say Felicitas C. Carpio, 37, of the 1000 block of University Boulevard E. in Silver Spring was behind the wheel of the Honda. Neither driver was injured. Anyone who has more information should contact MCP.
