WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A charter bus company from Waldorf, Md. that was already in some hot water with transportation officials is expected to face more scrutiny following a crash in Ohio this weekend. One of the company's two buses crashed in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. Based on the information that we have gathered, it appears the bus should have never been on the road.

Platinum Magic Carpet Ride's bus careened off the highway and toppled onto its side. Fifteen children and four adults fell from their seats. According to authorities, there were no serious injuries but one child did have an arm sling. Authorities believe the driver didn't successfully make a turn in the highway.

The children were returning from a robotics competition in St. Louis.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the federal agency that licenses these buses, the company has no history of ever getting inspected, no rating, and never responded to three separate letters from the state of Maryland requesting compliance audits. The federal licensing agency gave the company 10 days to comply or its license would be revoked. Now, we're told the company was working on getting an audit just before this crash occurred on Sunday.
