COLLEGE PARK, Md (CBSDC) -- McKeldin Library on the University of Maryland, College Park campus has reopened after being evacuated due to a "suspicious statement," officials said.
On Wednesday at about 3:00 p.m., University of Maryland Police (UMPD) were called out to the library to investigate an "inquiry that contained alarming language and was outside of the norm."
Out of precaution, UMPD sounded the fire alarm to evacuated the building and surrounded the perimeter to prevent anyone from entering, officials said.
"Explosive detection K9 teams from UMPD and Metro Transit Police responded to perform a sweep of the building to ensure no danger was present," campus police said. "The teams found nothing of concern and the building was reopened at 8:00 p.m."
