MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police arrested a 17-year-old boy they believe raped a woman in a secluded area behind a townhouse in Manassas on March 28.

According to police, a 31-year-old Herndon woman told police at 11:15 p.m. in the area of Maplewood Drive and Peakwood Court that she was walking to an acquaintance's home when she was approached by an unknown man.

Police say the man had a gun and forced the woman into a secluded area nearby Vermont Place. He then raped her, say police, before fleeing.

The woman was transported the hospital, say police.

A police K-9 and helicopter were used in the search for the man, but police were unable to locate him.

Wednesday, police say they identified the suspect on Tuesday and took him into custody. A search warrant was also executed at his home, according to police, because the woman's attacker also took her cell phone and cash.

Police say the 17-year-old is also responsible for a robbery and an attempted robbery of the Maplewood Barbershop on March 1 and 28.

The teen is charged with rape, abduction with intent to defile, robbery, using a firearm in commission of a felony and grand larceny for the attack, according to police. For the other crimes, he is charged with robbery, attempted robbery and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The teen is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
