SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two Springfield men are charged with home burglaries in the Burke area on March 19, say police.
Police say 27-year-old Andrew Kovch and 23-year-old Jimmy Le were charged with burglary, attempted burglary and grand larceny.
According to police, officers were called to a home in the 9800 block of Lake Meadow Court at approximately 1 p.m. on March 19. The homeowner told them a young man wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants was in the home. The man then fled in a dark, late 90's compact car, according to the homeowner.
Police say ten minutes later officers went to a home in the 10000 block of Waterside Drive after an alarm sounded. Officers found a door was forcibly opened but no one was inside the home, say police.
Then, police went to a home in the 8600 block of Norfolk Avenue in Annandale after a woman reported an unknown man in her home. Police say witnesses described the vehicle spotted at the scene and another person that was reportedly picked up nearby.
Patrol officers later stopped a vehicle matching the description on Roundabout Way in Springfield. They found that the driver was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, say police. Officers also reportedly found over 200 rounds of ammunition, a loaded revolver, a mask, gloves, and property inside the vehicle that connected Kovch and Le to the burglaries.
