CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (KXTV) - A text message sent to the wrong person leads to an FBI child pornography bust.
According to federal court documents, U.S. Marshals arrested 42-year-old Jason Wymer earlier this week for receiving and possessing thousands of child pornography files.
The complaint said the FBI was tipped off about Wymer after a mother reported she accidentally texted him. The mom said she tried to send a cell phone picture of her 8-year-old daughter to her older daughter. In the photo, the 8-year-old girl was fully clothed and standing next to a candy display. The mom misdialed her daughter's number and ended up sending the photo to Wymer's phone.
The court documents said Wymer allegedly texted back asking for more photos of the girl. That's when the mom emailed an FBI agent, who texted Wymer back posing as the girl.
Wymer sent several sexually explicit texts throughout the course of several weeks until agents executed a search warrant of Wymer's apartment earlier this week.
Court documents do not state if there was evidence Wymer sexually abused any child.
