WASHINGTON (AP) - The man who shot President Ronald Reagan is back in court for hearings on whether he should get to spend more time away from the psychiatric hospital where he has been living.

Lawyers spent two weeks in late 2011 early last year discussing plans that would expand John Hinckley's release privileges from Washington's St. Elizabeths Hospital. Hinckley has been allowed 10-day stretches at his mother's home in Virginia. Part of the plan was that Hinckley also would attend group programs at People's Place in Williamsburg, Va., but the treatment facility has since withdrawn its participation.

The hearing in federal court in Washington begins Monday and is expected to last no more than three days.
