COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Two men were arrested in connection to an assault and robbery in College Park, Md.
Akauh Johann Kassi, 18, of Silver Spring and Diamante Akeem Sulaiman, 18, of Burtonsville, were taken into custody after assaulting and robbing two University of Maryland students, police said.
It happened at around 12:35 a.m., in the area of Baltimore Avenue and Pontiac Avenue, police said.
"The preliminary investigation reveals the suspects approached two University of Maryland students as they walked down the street. The suspects assaulted the victims before stealing their two cell phones and a wallet. A short time later, police officers, assisted by the University of Maryland Police Department, stopped a group of men not far from where the robbery occurred. A stolen cell phone and wallet were found on the ground nearby," police said in a news release.
The two men are charged with robbery, second degree assault and related charges. Both are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
