RICHMOND (WUSA) - Virginians will now be "mobile ready" for disasters as a free mobile app was launched for iPhone and Android users on Thursday to help residents stay informed during emergencies.
The Ready Virginia app, which was developed by The Virginia Department of Emergency Management, will feature specific weather watches and warnings, disaster news, maps with open Red Cross shelters, hurricane evacuation routes and more.
You can download the new app on iTunes and Google Play.
Additionally, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management launched a mobile version of its website, which will provide smart phone and tablet users easy access for emergency planning and preparedness.
