WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The person who threatened to jump off the Key Bridge in Georgetown is now in custody, according to MPD and Arlington County Police.
Police say the bridge is now open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic in both directions. The incident began shortly before 5 p.m. when police got a call of a man outside the bridge rail.The adult male was on the north side , or outbound side, of the bridge on the sidewalk, police said.
Police were able to talk to the man and take him into custody just after 8 p.m. He was uninjured and taken to an area hospital.
The suspect is being evaluated by EMS personnel.
During the incident, commuters were diverted onto the GW Parkway and Lee Highway.
