ROCKVILLE,  Md. (WUSA) - Police are asking the public's  help in finding the stolen silver Volkswagen Jetta used in an armed robbery on Jan. 4.

On Friday at about 10:45 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Bonifant St. in Silver Spring for the report of an armed robbery. A woman said that as she was walking down the street, she was approached from behind by a black male suspect, in his 20's, wearing all dark clothing.

The suspect grabbed the victim's purse and demanded that she give it to him. He implied he had a weapon, although none was seen by the victim, who gave up her purse. The suspect then got into the front passenger seat of a waiting silver Volkswagen Jetta with Maryland plates 2AE6782.

The victim could not see the driver. The car then fled the area. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Police determined that the car had been reported stolen from Hyattsville. Police believe the suspect or suspects may still be driving the car in Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

Anyone with information about this robbery or the vehicle involved are asked to contact 9-1-1, or the non-emergency line, 301-279-8000.
