Driver Fell Asleep Before Car Hit Man On Sidewalk, Say Police

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police say a driver fell asleep before striking a man in the 9200 block of Livingston Road in Fort Washington, Md. on Thursday morning. A woman was also on the sidewalk but was not hurt.

The accident happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. Thursday. The man was struck by a green Subaru that left the road and jumped a curb. 

The man  was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene and police say he is cooperating with investigators. He has not been charged and police do not thing that speed, alcohol or drugs factored in the collision.
