ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - A 17-year-old student who was arrested for trespassing on school property was also charged as an adult with possessing a weapon on school property after a .22 caliber gun was found in his backpack, according to Montgomery County Police.
The student, Octavio Antonio Estevez of the 700 block of 62nd Avenue, SE, Washington, was seen on the Magruder H.S. grounds on Muncaster Mill Rd. in Rockville at about 7:53 a.m. Thursday, according to police.
When he was approached by the school's School Resorce Officer and told to leave the school property, Estevez refused. He was then arrested for trespassing. During a search of the student's backpack following the arrest, an unloaded .22 caliber H&R handgun was found.
The gun, described as older firearm, is being examined to determine whether it is operable, police said. No ammunition was found with the gun, and no one was injured. Estevez was charged as an adult with possession of a weapon on school property and other weapon-related charges.
