Wednesday marks the 79th anniversary of the end of Prohibation in the United States, an important day in the history of our nation and in The District.

Bill Thomas, owner of Jack Rose Dining Saloon, joined 9 NEWS to talk about the history of the 18th Amendment in DC, while bartender Amy Russell mixed a punch inspired by the 1930s.

Jack Rose is celebrating the anniversary with a weeklong festival including a Repeal Day Party complete with prohibition-priced cocktails (think: $.50 glasses of prohibition punch), a 1920s-inspired menu, an exclusive preview of its soon-to-open basement bar and even burlesque performances. Jack Rose boasts the largest whiskey collection in the Western Hemisphere - over 1400 bottles.
