MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) - A woman who was found unresponsive in the Potomac River early Friday has been identified as a visitor from China. 

Karjia Jiang, 53, was found unresponsive in the river by Montgomery County Fire/Rescue. She had been taken to Suburban Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her death is being investigated by Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division.

Jiang had been visiting from China and staying with relatives in the 9100 block fo Sterling Montague Drive in Great Falls, police said.

Jiang had told her family that she was taking a walk in Great Falls National Park. It is not known where or how Jiang entered the water. Her death has been classified undetermined, but no foul play is suspected, according to police.

Anyone with information about how or where Jiang entered the Potomac River is asked to call police at 240-773-5070.
