NORTHWEST, DC (WUSA) -- Metropolitan Police arrested 9 people in connection to a deadly stabbing at a Metro station including a 17-year-old who's been charged with murder.

A double stabbing left 18-year-old Olijawon Griffin, of Olney, Md., dead at the Woodley Metro stop.

It happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, forcing the Woodley Park Metro station to close for a couple of hours.

"It's not worth dying for. It hurts a lot of people, friends, family. It's not worth it," Carlton Davis, DC resident and frequent Metro rider said.

Sources tell 9news, a robbery that turned deadly was over stuff. A phone and a jacket.

A fight at the ticket kiosks at the Woodley Park Metro station led to a man stabbed in the stomach who would later die at the hospital.

A second man was stabbed in the face and is in stable condition. A third victim had a broken nose.

9news has also learned that it all started on Columbia Road in the heart of Adams Morgan. Possibly after a night of partying, a group of young adults jumped another group stealing personal items.

But instead of reporting it to police they followed the robbers to the Woodley Park Metro Station.

"No one is worth stabbing someone over call the police and tell them what happen is the best alternative," Davis said.

"People don't think when these things happen hopefully people will be more conscious of that and not take those risks." Caroline Boston, a frequent metro rider said.

Metro immediately closed the station and reopened at its regular Saturday morning schedule at 7 a.m. this morning. Metropolitan police took several people into custody.
