COLUMBIA, Md. (WUSA) -- Howard County police say they charged a teen as an adult for the robbery of a man at a mailbox in Columbia from earlier this week. The teen's accomplices are still on the loose.

According to police, 16-year-old Dymtro Klopp and two others robbed a man who was getting his mail from a community box in the 10400 block of Fair Oaks on Wednesday night. They reportedly placed a gun to the man's head and demanded money. He gave them his wallet and they fled.

The man was able to give police a detailed description of his robbers, say police, and officers say the description of one of the suspects matched a teen believed to be involved in some other incidents. Police say Klopp lived about half a mile from the robbery scene.

On Thursday, officers spotted Klopp and two other teens who matched the descriptions in the Freetown Road area. When an officer started to approach them the teens ran.

Klopp was found carrying marijuana, say police. He was arrested for drug possession and searched. During that search police say they found a Visa gift card the robbery victim had reported stolen.

Kloop is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $85,000 bond.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the two remaining suspects is asked to call 410-313-STOP.
