BRANDYWINE, Md. (WUSA) - Prince George's County police have cleared the scene of a collision between an unmarked police cruiser and a civilian driver near Branch Ave.

The accident took place just before 9 p.m., according to a police spokesperson, who said the collision happened at the intersection of Branch Ave. and Dyson Rd.

The unmarked cruiser was on a call with both lights and siren activated when it was struck by the other car, the spokesman said.

Both the officer and the civilian driver were injured in the crash, and were taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, but police say the early indication is that the civilian driver was at fault.
