Sheila Johnson, assault and battery and petty larceny charges in Prince William County.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- A suspected shoplifter spat in a police officer's face while being taken into custody, police said.
Shelia Denise Johnson, 52, of Woodbridge, was accused of shoplifting from the Dollar Tree at 12372 Dillingham Square, when police showed up to arrest her.
"As the officer was placing the accused in the cruise, she turned towards his direction and spat in the officer's face. The accused was transported to the Garfield station for processing. Once there, the accused kicked the same officer while in lockup," Prince William County Police said in a news release.
Minor injuries were reported, police said.
Johson is facing two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and petty larceny charges.
