LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA) -- Leesburg police say Jonathan Alexander Cowden turned himself in on Wednesday after shooting at a tow truck driver.
He is being charged with possession of a stolen firearm after shooting at a tow truck driver in the unit block of Plaza Street, NE at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police say that after executing a search warrant on Tuesday afternoon, they obtained a warrant for 25-year-old Jonathan Alexander Cowden of Leesburg for removing a serial number from a firearm. The charge is a class 1 misdemeanor.
Police say they found a weapon, a ballistic vest and other items at a home. They believe that they may have been stolen from FBI Agents' vehicle in Fairfax County in February 2011. According to police, military type ballistic body armor, military tracer rounds and other weapons were found at the home.
Cowden will be held at the Loudoun County Magistrate for a bond hearing.
