GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA) -- A 15-year-old girl is dead after a vehicle accident at Route 118 and Wisteria Drive in Germantown on Wednesday morning.
Montgomery County police say Christina Morris-Ward of Germantown was a 10th grader at Seneca Valley High School. They believe she was walking to school at approximately 7:03 a.m. when she was struck by a Ford Fusion. She was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the Fusion, 27-year-old Kevin Bradley Carlson of Germantown, stayed at the scene.
Police believe visibility may have been an issue. Morris-Ward was wearing dark clothing and there were overcast conditions outside, but the official cause of the accident is under investigation.
Their investigation shows that the Ford Fusion was heading north on Route 118 and had a green signal. They say Morris-Ward had crossed the southbound lanes of Route 118 and was trying to cross the northbound lanes when she was struck by the vehicle.
Sky 9 flew over the scene. You can see the photos above.
