LAS VEGAS (AP) - A family is recovering after a weekend bee attack near Nellis Air Force Base.

Clark County firefighters say they responded to a call about 4 p.m. Sunday and found a mother and six children with multiple bee stings. Authorities say the father was not harmed, but the victims included children as young as 18 months old.

Firefighters say the children had opened a sprinkler box that had an active bee hive inside. Crews say one family member was stung more than a dozen times, although nobody was taken to the hospital.

Firefighters say they put on protective bee suits and sprayed the hive with foam to smother the insects, then asked the property managers to have an exterminator get rid of any remaining bees.
