Frederick Santiago, charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony in Prince William County
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA) -- A Woodbridge man is in jail after allegedly shooting another man during an argument in a parking lot on Tuesday night. The shooting victim later became a victim of a hit-and-run.
According to police, 23-year-old Frederick Santiago shot a 22-year-old man in the upper body 13989 Jefferson Davis Highway. Police say the shooting stemmed from a fight over a previous incident involving the two men.
The victim ran away after being shot. While the victim was running on Bayside Avenue, police say he crossed the path of a pickup truck and was hit. The truck left before police arrived at the scene.
Santiago was located near the area of the shooting and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27.
Police say the driver who struck the victim was not involved in the shooting but they continue to look for him. Police say the truck is a late model gray Ford pickup with extended cab and tinted windows. They say there may be damage to the front left driver's side of the truck from the hit and run.
