FALLS CHURCH , Va. (WUSA) - The suspect in an Oct. 19 sexual assault that may be linked to five other groping incidents in September is being sought, according to Falls Church Police, who are asking the public's help in identifying the man.
The most recent incident took place at about 4:23 p.m. last Friday when the victim, walking with a baby stroller, was approached in near South Maple Ave. and South Gibson St. The suspect came up behind the victim, forcefully grabbing her buttock area, and did not let go until she screamed. P
The suspect is described as a short, skinny Hispanic male with a medium complexion. He is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall. His hair is worn short in back. He may now be clean-cut after shaving his beard. He was seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and a red baseball cap.
Police are reminding residents to be aware of their surroundings and offer the following safety tips:
• Do not wear headphones or ear buds. It is very difficult to hear cars, sirens, or someone running behind you when you are preoccupied with music.
• When talking on a cell phone, be aware of what is going on around you.
• Walk in lighted areas.
• Keep your hands free, not overloaded.
• If you are being followed: cross the street, scream, run to an occupied residence or store, or flag down a car and call 911.
