WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA)-- Social Security payments will be going up beginning January 2013. The raise is 1.7 percent or roughly about $21 a month.

However, advocates for Social Security equality argue that is not enough. They say with inflating cost of things like fuel, food, and health care, the increase will be swallowed up and will give little to no extra money to those who are already struggling to keep their heads above water.

Ken Molestina highlight such a case in the story above.
