WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- A D.C. judge Friday ordered two suspects held without bail in that brutal Capitol Hill beating and armed robbery of a young father last August.

He said he could find no circumstances under which it would be safe to release the defendants back into the community pending trial.

The victim's shaken wife was watching in the courtroom. Abby Maslin said she wanted to stare down the men. "I want to look them in the eye and I want them to know who I am and what they've done."

Her husband, TC Maslin, 30, has no feeling on the right side of his body. He is unable to walk or feed himself. He's unable to even remember his wife's name.

Sunny Kuti, 17, of Southeast Washington, Tommy Branch, 21, of Fort Washington, and Michael Moore, 18 of Landover are accused of beating Maslin in August as he walked home on Capitol Hill from a Nats game.

He lay in a park for hours with a severe brain injury, until he finally crawled across the street and someone found him.

Detectives say Branch and Moore have admitted they participated. Branch allegedly hit Maslin with a baseball bat. Kuti allegedly hit him in the head with a "fake 'em out" BB gun.

Kuti put his hands together and seemed to pray during the hearing. But it did not appear he ever looked back into the audience, and it's not clear the defendants even knew Abby Maslin was in the audience.
