FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The wife of Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson says she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, but has an excellent prognosis after surgery and radiation treatments in Louisville.
Madeline Abramson, who is 57, told the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1edER9S) on Wednesday about her ordeal after the newspaper questioned her about her health. She said she decided to share her story as a way to emphasize preventative care.
Abramson, who has long advocated early cancer detection, said hers was discovered in April during a routine mammogram and follow-up testing.
Abramson she is still taking medicine, but, "I feel good and I feel healthy."
