The Gone Girl may be found.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rosamund Pike, the co-star of Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher, has been offered the starring role opposite Ben Affleck in David Fincher's adaption of the mystery thriller Gone Girl, the 2012 bestseller to Gillian Flynn.
Pike will play Amy Dunne, a woman who disappears on her wedding anniversary and her husband becomes the main suspect. The novel has sold more than 2 million copies.
Pike joins Affleck, who has been cast as husband Nick Dunne. The Reporter says that Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are being considered for supporting roles.
The British-born Pike beat out a number of thirtysomething actresses vying for the role, including Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt, the trade reports.
Reese Witherspoon, who optioned the book last year, is producing along with Leslie Dixon and Bruna Papandrea. The film is set to go into production in September.
