A New Online Shopping Site Tailored Just For Families
BETHESDA, Md., (WUSA) -- Jamie Peyser Ratner loves to blog about the bargains she finds.
But when it comes to most group buying sites, she found there was nothing families could use.
"Fancy restaurants and spas, and as a mom of a one year old and two year old, I don't have time to do those things," she says.
So, the Bethesda mom set out to create a new daily deal destination, and Certifikid was born.
"The savings is 50 percent off. His regular price is $350.
Certifikid just launched Monday with an offer for one of DC's most popular magicians, the Great Zucchini.
"It means they're gonna be look at your site," Peyser Ratner says.
And she is working to get businesses like Daisy Baby and Kids in Bethesda into the mix.
"It's great for our customers to find out about me and also get a deal. In this economy, everyone wants a little bit of something," says owner Dana Evans.
To attract businesses, the site allows those profiled to post events in their stores on Certifikid for a full year.
Moms and Dads get an extra incentive to spread the word about the offers they like through Facebook, Twitter and email.
"You'll earn $5 for each person who makes their first purchase," says Peyser Ratner.
She hopes the new site will appeal to other moms and dads across the area.
Something must be clicking, just a day into the launch and already 1,000 people have signed up to save.
We've got a preview of tomorrow's deal for you today.
It's three days of summer camp at the My Gym locations in Bethesda and Potomac for $60, that's half the normal price.
