WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Restaurant and Lounge, Busboys & Poets, invites locals to join them for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

"Taking Flight," a local non-profit organization will be holding a fundraiser and exhibit at Busboys & Poets on 14th and V Street, NW DC on Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00 p.m.

Women of all ages and different experiences with breast cancer will have an opportunity to share each of their stories through the exhibit, "Telling Intimate Stories."

The exhibit will hold 25 breast castings and essays representing women from ages 18 to 70. Some breast cancer survivors have taken their castings from their procedures and turned it in to art. Other expressions such as poetry and literature will be showcased in the exhibit.

Executive Director Trudy Perry said, "We think it's an opportunity for women to express themselves about an issue we don't normally talk about."

"Telling Intimate Stories" exhibit will be open to the public for the month of October.
