WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Hyundai is offering to defer new-car payments for 800,000 workers who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown.

The company says workers who buy or lease cars this month won't have to make payments until January.

Those who already own a Hyundai financed through the company won't have to make payments until they go back to work.
