WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- With a federal government shutdown looming, you may wonder what will happen to Metro service.
According to Metro officials, since Metro is not a federal entity then it would remain open if a shutdown occurred. Trains and buses are expected to operate on regular schedules.
Metro officials do warn that if the shutdown brings "significantly lower ridership" that they may have to make some slight changes. According to the Metro officials, the system may have to use more 6-car trains and fewer 8-car trains due to less riders.
