ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Fire fighters responded to a home fire in Alexandria on Tuesday.

The fire started around 6:03 p.m. at a home located on the block of E. Linden St. in Alexandria. The fire stemmed from an exterior wall inside the home, extending from the kitchen to the attic. All the occupants of the home were able to get out and did not sustain any injuries, officials said.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire and have ruled it as accidental for now. The damage to the home is estimated to be around $100,000.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, "Nearly two-thirds of those fires occur in one- or two-family homes; the most common time for winter fires is between 5 and 8 p.m."
