HARMANS, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man died shortly after being shot in a parking lot by a masked man in Harmans on Halloween night, say Anne Arundel County Police.

According to police, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the parking lot of the 7400 block of Railroad Avenue for a report of a shooting.  They found a man, later identified as 44-year-old Rene Filsfdelfo Leiva-Archila off Baltimore, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. Police say Leiva-Archila was initially being transported to an area trauma center, but was then transported to an area hospital. He was pronounced dead there.

Investigators say it appears the suspect and Leiva-Archila met up at the parking lot. Then the suspect took out a gun and shot Leiva-Archila in an apparent attempted robbery, according to police.

A male witness, who was with Leiva-Archila, fled from the scene unharmed, say police.

The suspect is being described as a white male, 30-40 years old, approximately 5'10" with a medium to heavy build, black, crew cut style hair and a five o'clock shadow. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or white mid-size, four door SUV, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Vince Carbonaro at 410-222-3566.
