Pitbull knows how to party, but can he handle a clash of the divas?

That's what Sunday's American Music Awards show (ABC, 8 p.m.) is shaping up to be.

Katy Perry is set to open the show. And other performers include Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga,Christina Aguilera and, yes, Miley Cyrus.

Live, from L.A.!

Is Pitbull, who is hosting the show, worried? Of course not.

"That sounds like a great night in Miami," he cracks.

"This is the reason why Pitbull is doing the show," adds show producer Larry Klein, implying that the star can handle it.

The two are on the phone with USA TODAY to hype the awards show. And the way music awards shows go, we know anything can happen.

If Miley wants to twerk, let her twerk, Pitbull says. "Women have been doing that in Miami since '93." He adds, "We call it the Doo Doo Brown dance. I'm very serious."

And he applauds Miley for doing it at the MTV Video Music Awards. "I thought it was genius that she could take a dance that is so old and in Miami, that's something you see every night."

Klein says he hasn't met with Cyrus or any of the other acts about being appropriate. "We never talked about what you can do, can't do. I think a stage is to do what you do onstage," he says. "I don't judge people. Rejoice, enjoy."

It's Lopez, says Pitbull, who is capable of "breaking news on a whole nother level. From the Versace dress to the Grammys with her leg out. I've known Jennifer for about five, six years. I've learned a whole lot from her, and she has opened doors for someone such as myself," he says, noting that we should look for her special tribute to salsa icon Celia Cruz.

What else should we expect?

Jokes and fun. "I'm bringing the best, biggest party to the world," Pitbull brags.

Presenters include Jaimie Alexander, Marc Anthony, Kristen Bell, Michael Bolton, Ciara, Chris Daughtry, Fall Out Boy, Nathan FillionDaisy FuentesJuan Pablo Galavis, Dave Grohl, Jennifer HudsonJoan JettHeidi KlumLady Antebellum, Bill Maher, Andrew McCutchenMaia MitchellKelly OsbourneHayden Panettiere, Jeremy Renner, Nicole RichieNaya Rivera, Emma Roberts, Zoe SaldanaSarah SilvermanAlicia SilverstoneTaylor Swift, and the Shark Tank cast members - Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Kevin O'Leary, Robert Herjave.

Adds Klein, "Every act will be a big moment. I'm not bragging. It is what it is. How can you not have big moments with this lineup? The nice thing is some of them are over-the-top productions, and others are great voices, great names, but they're intimate, and they're small."

The over-the-top performance? "Rihanna's will be over the top," Klein says. The tribute to her as the AMAs first icon award winner will feature more than 65 people.

And Lady Gaga? "Gaga always surprises. She always pushes the envelope forward. She's all about art, design and style."

Justin Timberlake, he says, will do "a very cool number that I think is going to surprise people. He is a gentleman of all gentlemen."

Teases Pitbull, "He'll definitely have a suit and tie on."

Hmmm, will Jay Z be there?

"Still waiting to hear," Klein says.

So is Pitbull nervous about hosting? "No, I'm not nervous as we speak. But when we get onstage, I will feel nervous. You know how you get rid of stage fright? You look at everybody in the crowd like they're naked," he says. "And that's a lot of people to look at!"

Says Klein, "I wonder what Redfoo looks like naked?"
